IELTS REPORT SAMPLE ANSWER
The two maps show the layout of an island before and after certain infrastructural developments.
In all, now, the island is oriented towards accepting tourists and accommodating their interests within itself. The major developments include a footpath, a vehicle track and a pier. Moreover, a restaurant, and a reception area, with several cottages have been built on the island.
Before these improvements, the island was untouched by humans. It had scattered vegetation around it, mostly consisting of coconut trees along the shoreline. A cliff surrounded the majority of the island, however, a beach was also present on the tapered end of the island.
Later, with the inclusion of man-made structures, the island was made more habitable. Now, the island has a pier to dock sailboats, further leading to the main reception. Down the road, one may find the restaurant. A few cottages lay astride the road, built to accommodate tourists. Finally, the beach is now tourist-friendly and has a dedicated swimming area. It is also notable that the built-up around the island has not harmed the local vegetation.
Astride – extending across, used here to show that the cottages can be found on both sides of the road
