Who was this person?
Having to apologize to someone is a tough task but, I had to do it to one of my near and dear ones. It was my sister, actually my elder sister.
What was the reason for your apology?
This happened recently, about five weeks back. I was completely tied up at work and was hustling with day-to-day routines. My sister invited me to a get-together for her twentieth wedding anniversary. I remember it was in the last week of March and to my utter ignorance due to work pressure, I forgot about it completely. I could not make it to the party and could not even send her a message on her joyous day.
When did you apologize?
She called me the same night a zillion times as I was not in. I was so drowned in work that I didn’t even care to pick her call. She messaged me as well. To my bad luck, my manager saw it and gave me his piece of mind on planning get-togethers at such times. In my rage, I called her back and shouted at her without listening to anything she had to say and hung up. But the very next day before I left for work, she came to my place with a share of the cake she had baked for that night. I was filled with remorse and didn’t know what to say. I instantly hugged her and apologized for my misbehaviour.
Explain why you thought of apologizing to this person?
Despite my rudeness, she held me tight and plainly said that she had been there and done that. This reaction touched my heart deeply. I was grateful that she knew how my days and nights were passing through otherwise she wouldn’t be there the next morning. I had all the reasons to apologize to her, and I did that humbly. This was an incident where I had to apologize to someone so close to my heart.
