Sample Letter (Band 7+)

Dear Sam,
Greetings, my friend, hope you are well. I’ll be reaching Toronto within a week, and I am writing this letter to look for some part-time jobs. Since I don’t have any acquaintances there, I am in dire need of your help.

Let me first give you a brief idea of my study program. It is a diploma in Bio-Engineering and the program would last from July 2023 to June 2025. It’s a long two-year program, but it’s not as intensive as my last course. I would have some time to spare for other activities.

I was thinking of working part-time while I am there. I will have classes only twice a week, letting me have a lot of free time. Thus, I am actively looking for some sort of engagement during my free time. Also, As you are aware of my family background, capital support is imperative for my survival there. So, I need to find a job which pays well and at the same time does not keep me engaged for too long.

Now, I don’t know much about the lifestyle there, so do suggest some good job banks and online portals. And, while we are at it, I’ll send you my resume, please let me know if I need to make any changes to it. Also, spread the word in your social circle. I believe a half-day job would be just right for me.

Hope to see you soon!

Regards,
Justus
