Big metropolitans can lure anyone, especially young individuals from remote districts and villages. Nowadays, this migration has caused many elderly to be left behind without proper care and concern from their younger offsprings. As such, this issue needs further contemplation and intelligent solutions for the betterment of society at large.
Parents are an integral part of any individual’s life. As one matures, this affinity loses steam and the aged find themselves alone in a quaint countryside abode. With no one to take care of them, they run into several problems. To begin with, a slip in the bathroom or even a sudden illness can take a toll on their wellbeing. Sometimes, this can be fatal too. Another concern is their financial dependence, as senior citizens they find it difficult to secure a steady income. The rapid development in technology has also contributed to this dearth of welcoming workplaces. With such threats looming over oldtimers, the need to resolve such issues is an imperative task for most youngsters.
There may not exist a common solution to this problem. However, few steps may be taken to secure and support elders, even if they are all alone. Firstly, mobile phones and the internet have bridged the communication gap to a large extent and as these devices reach remote corners of the globe, their contribution becomes quite evident. Also, youngsters are now able to financially support their parents, remotely. With online banking apps transferring funds is effortless, so much so that even poorly educated seniors can use such apps. Thus, current technology can play a great role in bringing elders closer to their loved ones.
Going further, youngsters should actively participate in educating their distant elder and make them feel comfortable around technology. To conclude, our society is heavily equipped to overcome these challenges.
